The Cleveland Cavilers have donated 5,000 hats to be passed out at Cleveland's schools this Wednesday so parents and community supporters can "tip their hats" to the city's students. Cleveland Schools CEO Eugene Sanders says its merely a happy coincidence that the rally is during the same week that attendance is recorded for federal funding purposes. While that is important, he says the "Hats Off To Cleveland Kids Day" is more about engaging the neighbors with their local schools and improving the system from within.
Eugene Sanders: I want them to understand that education is the most important criteria and ingredient for a successful Cleveland, Ohio. And I'd like them to take an active role in their neighborhood school by connecting with the school in a positive way to show students that we really care for them.
