The HMCS Toronto steamed into Cleveland harbor late this morning to a warm welcome from Mayor Jane Campbell and the 87th Cleveland pip band. It's the first time in 50 years that a Canadian naval vessel has docked in Cleveland. The 240-foot long warship based in Halifax is on a goodwill tour through the Great Lakes this summer, stopping in Cleveland to renew ties to the Ninth Coast Guard District which patrols the lakes. Commander Stewart Moors says most of the ship's 200-member crew has recently returned from duty in the Persian Gulf.
