Arseny Tarasevich-Nicolaev played Nikolai Kapustin's short, sparkling Etude No. 1 from Eight Concert Etudes, Op. 40.

Of the four Kapustin Concert Etudes Tarasevich-Nicolaev performed during the Competition (he also played Nos. 2, 6 and 7), the Etude No. 1 was the crowd favorite.
