Governor John Kasich's new school funding formula is being touted as a formula that funds students instead of schools.
So what does that mean? You can tune in to a virtual town hall the Governor is holding tonight at 6 p.m. and watch the livestream of the event here.
The plan includes $300 million to fund innovative schools, and some additional funding to help schools implement the Third Grade Reading Guarantee proposed by the governor and passed by the legislature last year.
It also suggests making vouchers available to any low-income student in the state.
What the plan does not do is significantly increase the state's financial support of schools, or reduce the reliance of school districts on local property taxes.
To read more about the plan you can catch up with the archive of our liveblog from the Governor's 2 p.m. presentation here.
If you need a refresher on Ohio school funding history, we've got one here, and we've got the story of the well known Supreme Court funding decision declaring Ohio's funding system unconstitutional here.
