The Ohio Department of Education said yesterday that it would release a limited set of school performance data on Wednesday morning. The information will not include state ratings such as Excellent, Effective, and so on.

It also will not include some other data usually in annual school report cards such as attendance rates and performance index scores.

School districts should expect to receive data spreadsheets around 8.30 a.m. tomorrow with the "official" release to follow later in the morning, Ohio Department of Education spokesperson John Charlton says.

Report cards were supposed to come out weeks ago, but they’ve been delayed while the state auditor investigates whether some schools falsified student attendance records. Those types of changing could boost schools’ report card scores, so the department has delayed releasing the full report cards.

Acting Superintendent of Public Instruction, Michael Sawyers told the state Board of Education earlier this month that he believed the state should release the limited data:

I believe from a full transparency piece that if the information is available and people want access to it, [so] why don’t we give them access to the preliminary data?
