General Motors promises hundreds more jobs in Lordstown by the end of the year. The company is betting on demand for the new high-mileage Chevy Cruze which is selling well in Europe and Asia. Meanwhile, Governor Strickland and Republican challenger John Kasich appear on the same stage in Columbus as polls indicate a close race. The Ohio economy is on the mend. University Hosp. will be hiring 550, the Clev. Clinic has plans to hire 1800, and Metro Health has 270 job openings. Domino sugar is expanding on Carnegie in Cleve and Pierrs ice cream is expanding next door. Further down state in Logan, Caterpiller is opening a dist. These jobs are all in addition to Lordstown, Bridgestone/Firestone and the steel plant in Youngstown. Strickland deserves some credit.
