Ohio Governor John Kasich recently praised the Catholic Christo Rey model of education and said he wishes the state could incorporate it as a public school option. So how exactly is Christo Rey different? For one thing, students spend a quarter of their school time working in actual jobs outside the classroom. Their earnings help cover tuition, they get valuable training and they may make contacts for a future career.
