Catholics in the 8-county Cleveland Diocese will soon have a new leader when Bishop Nelson Perez, most recently an auxiliary bishop on Long Island, takes the helm here on September 5. The ceremony of installation includes a Mass at the Cathedral of St. John downtown, which will be attended by church leaders and streamed online or available on TV.  A number of watch parties are planned for the ceremony.  Bishop Perez is the first Hispanic to lead the Diocese -- his parents fled Castro's Cuba to Miami and he was born there in 1961.  Bishop Richard Lennon retired in December due to health reasons.
