Woody Guthrie: Hard Travelin'

"Woody's Life" reconstructed Guthrie's childhood in Oklahoma and traced the years until his death in a New York psychiatric hospital.

A montage of music and voices described how Guthrie began writing songs and how his artistry still resonates worldwide.

"The Essential Woody" recounted hilarious and heartbreaking stories about Guthrie as told by son Arlo and daughter Nora Guthrie, and by Pete Seeger and other friends. A walk through the Woody Guthrie Archives in New York further profiled the human being behind the legend.

In "Woody's Song Book" Bruce Springsteen, Ani DiFranco, the Indigo Girls, and Arlo Guthrie are among the stars who payed musical tribute to this American balladeer during the 1996 Guthrie conference in Cleveland.

Listeners were taken on location to historic Severance Hall and other concert venues for powerful new interpretations of Woody Guthrie classics
