Talk of the Nation-Story Corps: National Day of Listening Special

StoryCorps' fourth annual National Day of Listening is Friday, November 25. Invite your listeners to record interviews with a beloved teacher or mentor, or use social media to pay tribute to a teacher, during this Thanksgiving weekend. National Day of Listening segments will air on NPR beginning Saturday, November 19.

This year, StoryCorps suggests that everyone reach out to their favorite teacher or mentor to say "Thank you for changing my life." Some may want to call, while others may dash off an email or a written note. Some may want to schedule time to record an interview, while others may prefer the immediacy of a post dedicated to their teacher on Facebook or Twitter. How you say "Thank you" isn't important, but taking the time to say it will make all the difference in that teacher or mentor's life. An example is this StoryCorps clip from Weekend Edition Sunday, featuring a brain surgeon who was inspired to seek out and thank his middle school science teacher.

StoryCorps founder Dave Isay will be on Talk of the Nation for their annual National Day of Listening special on Thanksgiving Day.
