Santana – Multi-dimensional Warrior

In this special, Carlos Santana explored his extensive catalog to highlight tracks that reflect his deep spirituality. Living, playing music and being a force for change are all parts of the same idea that has inspired Santana for 40 years. In an exclusive interview, Santana discussed how this relates to what he considers the most spiritual works from his catalog. Listeners also heard from two generations of guitar greats - John McLaughlin and Derek Trucks, legendary bassist Larry Graham, and percussionist Orestes Vilato. Santana's musical highlights in the Multi-Dimensional Warrior special included some of his best known instrumentals ("Samba Pa Ti," "Luz Amor di Vida" and others), a brand-new mix "Spirit" featuring guitar solos recorded last year, and a few other of Carlos' personal favorite album cuts. The program also featured rare music from a May 2008 show at The Fillmore in San Francisco, taped forty years after he first headlined that storied venue, and his first show there in many years.
