Jazz Profiles: The Village Vanguard

The small triangular room with low ceilings and remarkable acoustics has staged plenty of essential jazz recordings. But it's only a small fraction of what has transpired at the world's oldest continuously operated jazz club. The oldest continuously running jazz club in the world has hosted the most important figures in jazz from giants like Monk, Miles, and Coltrane to stars of today like Joshua Redman and Wynton Marsalis. It has been the setting for some of the best live recordings in jazz, and the great stories.
