Hear the World – Congo-Brazzaville and Mali

Two African party bands, Les Bantous de la Capitale from Congo-Brazzaville and Toumani Diabaté's Symmetric Orchestra from Mali.

Fifty year ago, Les Bantous de la Capitale witnessed the birth of Congolese rumba and played a key role in the development of African pop. After all this time, the band sounds just as fresh and irresistible as it did back then.

Toumani Diabaté’s wonderful kora (harp lute) playing is at the heart of his Symmetric Orchestra, an ensemble of Malian musicians with whom he has been making party and dance music for many years, mixing traditional Malian sounds with modern African and Western pop music.
