Brainstorm: An Experience of Brain Injury
Brainstorm was an exploration of brain injury, through interviews with survivors. What diagnostic facilities, rehabilitation, support systems exist in for those who face recovery from brain injury? What are the social challenges: stigmatization, economic impact, contact with law enforcement, etc. Brainstorm was designed for the general community, as most of us have little experience, information and recognition of the challenges of brain injury. This story was of national significance. As thousands of military personnel begin returning from overseas wars, brain injury recovery will be an issue of immediate impact on the communities to which they will be returning. Are we prepared? Communities will be making serious decisions about the handling of survivors. Albuquerque is a microcosm of the national discussion.
