Heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures sweep through parts of the upper Midwest after an unusually early blast of winter weather.
Better get your winter coat out and your boots cleaned up - bitter cold is on its way! This week started out with mild temperatures, but by the end of the week temperatures will drop to the low 30s with snow showers in many parts of the state.
But we're still getting off easy here in Ohio. In states like Michigan and Minnesota, heavy snowfall accumulations, nearly two feet in some areas, created hazardous travel conditions earlier this week.
This might remind you of last year's polar vortex - the patch of cold air that was pushed down over the northern half of the U.S. dropping temperatures unusually low.
This week's storm is similar, caused by super typhoon Nuri in the pacific that ultimately pushed a stream of cold arctic air down over Canada and part of America.
But fear not! According to several weather predictions, this year's overall winter is supposed to be less severe and bring less snow than last year.
