While we were out: Zika update

Another story we covered last season has an update: Zika -- but it’s not the update we were hoping for. The virus that is transmitted primarily by mosquito bites and can cause birth defects has made it to the United States. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have confirmed over 3,000 cases of Zika in the continental United States, but most of those were from travelers returning from abroad. Florida is the only state in the continental U.S. that has been confirmed to have mosquitoes carrying the virus.
