Survey Shows New Record of Centenarians in Japan

If you stay healthy and take care of yourself, maybe you'll live as long as some of the folks in Japan. Recently the Japanese government has hit a record high number of having almost 60,000 people who have aged to be a hundred years or older- also called centenarians. The health and welfare ministry in Japan released the results of its annual survey this week to lead up to the Japanese holiday, Respect for the Aged, a day each year they honor the elderly citizens. Japan's oldest person, 116-year-old, Misao Okawa, is recognized as the world's oldest person by Guinness World Records. And 111-year-old Sakari Momoi, is also the world's oldest man. Women accounted for nearly 90 percent of the survey's numbers this year.
