NewsDepth A+: Ty Fugate

BEFORE WE GO WE’VE GOT AN A PLUS TO HAND OUT.

THE HOLIDAYS MAY STILL BE A LONG WAY OFF, BUT A STUDENT IN EATON IS ALREADY THINKING ABOUT HOW TO MAKE IT SPECIAL FOR KIDS WHO ARE SICK.

TY FUGATE IS A FOURTH GRADER AT BRUCE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL, AND FOR THE PAST TWO YEARS HE HAS BEEN SPEARHEADING AN EFFORT TO DONATE TOYS TO THE DAYTON CHILDREN’S HOSPITAL DURING THE HOLIDAYS.

TY DECIDED HE WANTED TO DONATE TOYS TO THE HOSPITAL WHEN HE WAS 8.  THAT YEAR, HE GATHERED DONATIONS FROM FAMILY MEMBERS AND BROUGHT THEM TO THE HOSPITAL.

AFTERWARD, HE DECIDED HE WANTED TO SCALE UP, AND THE FOLLOWING YEAR - SET HIS SIGHTS ON FILLING A TRUCK – A MOVING TRUCK, THAT IS.

HE GOT HIS MOM TO POST HIS GOAL ON FACEBOOK, AND HIS COMMUNITY QUICKLY STEPPED UP TO THE CHALLENGE.  FAMILY, FRIENDS, AND SMALL BUSINESSES HELPED HIM FILL THE TRUCK, WHICH HE DELIVERED TO THE HOSPITAL, WITH A JOLLY CREW OF HELPERS.

TY IS ALREADY AT WORK TO DO IT AGAIN THIS YEAR, BECAUSE HE WANTS TO MAKE THE HOLIDAYS MORE JOYFUL FOR CHILDREN WHO HAVE TO BE IN THE HOSPITAL.

WE’RE GIVING TY THIS WEEK’S NEWS DEPTH A PLUS FOR BRINGING HIS COMMUNITY TOGETHER IN THIS EFFORT OF KINDNESS.

GREAT JOB!
