First Day of Fall

Have you looked outside and noticed the leaves changing from their summer green to a more colorful coat of red, yellow and orange? Monday night marked the official start of fall with the arrival of the autumnal equinox. This moment happens when the sun shines directly on the earth's equator, resulting in twelve hours of daylight and twelve hours of nighttime.

As fall progresses, we'll see shorter days and cooler temperatures as we here in the northern hemisphere are tipped away from the sun.

Leaves will lose their green color as chlorophyll production decreases, giving us a variety of beautiful hues.
