We've been keeping you up to date on the latest developments with the Ebola virus, and this week health officials say a second nurse has tested positive for Ebola. The news comes after Nina Pham, a 26-year-old critical care nurse at Texas Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas was the first person to contract Ebola inside the United States.
Both nurses were assigned to treat Thomas Duncan, the Liberian man who died last week from the disease.
Investigators are still looking into how they contracted the virus despite wearing protective gear. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, or the CDC, is establishing an Ebola response team that they say will arrive at the location and evaluate the situation within hours of the diagnosis. CDC director Tom Frieden says this team will assist the hospitals with all aspects of care to help prevent more health care workers from contracting the virus.
Pham, the nurse that was diagnosed last week, is being treated at the same hospital she worked in and is said to be doing well.
