Anniversary of the Attack on Pearl Harbor

Survivors of the attack on Pearl Harbor gathered in Hawaii this week to mark the 74th anniversary of the attack there.

On December 7, 1941, Japan’s navy and air force launched a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Their target: the United States Navy's pacific fleet. The attack brought the U.S. into World War II.

Survivors gathered in Hawaii on Monday to remember their fellow servicemen. Events included a commemoration of the sinking of the USS Oklahoma.

More than 2,400 sailors, marines and soldiers lost their lives during the attack on Pearl Harbor.
