The Cleveland Orchestra’s At Home in Lakewood Residency

The Cleveland Orchestra’s At Home in Lakewood Residency

ideastream will focus its cameras and microphones on this year’s Cleveland Orchestra “At Home” neighborhood residency in Lakewood, allowing the entire Northeast Ohio community to enjoy highlights from this cultural collaboration.  A variety of programs and interviews will air on WVIZ/PBS, 90.3 WCPN and WCLV 104.9 from May 17-24 to help capture the excitement and artistry presented during the Orchestra’s week of free public events.

The centerpiece of the Orchestra’s activities in Lakewood is a Cleveland Orchestra community concert led by Music Director Franz Welser-Möst from Lakewood Civic Auditorium.  The concert will air live on WCLV Classical 104.9 ideastream on Saturday, May 24 beginning at 7:30 p.m. WVIZ/PBS will capture the concert and stream it live on wviz.org and broadcast the program a week later, on WVIZ/PBS Friday, May 30 at 9 p.m., and again on Sunday, June 1 at 2 p.m. 

“The Cleveland Orchestra: At Home in Lakewood” radio and television broadcasts will include:
R. Strauss, Don Juan
F. David, Concertino in E-flat major for Trombone and Orchestra (Massimo La Rosa, trombone)
Three works by J. Strauss Jr., including Waltz: From the Mountains; Czárdás from Ritter Pázmán and Overture to Die Fledermaus

The television program will also include other highlights from the residency spotlighting a variety of community collaborations, musical performances and joint events and activities occurring throughout the city of Lakewood.

Monday through Thursday, May 19-22:  The Sound of Applause presents daily interviews and stories about the Cleveland Orchestra Lakewood residency.

Thursday, May 15 at 7:30 p.m.: Applause presents a preview of the residency
Thursday, May 22 at 7:30 p.m.: Applause shows sights and sounds from the residency
Thursday, May 29 at 7:30 p.m.: Applause features interviews and stories from the residency.

The ideastream coverage of The Cleveland Orchestra’s At Home in Lakewood residency is supported in part by the residents of Cuyahoga County through a public grant from Cuyahoga Arts & Culture. The Ohio Arts Council helped fund this program with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans.
