A recent report by the U.S. Department of Education tells us that first generation college students are less likely to finish college, compared to their peers whose parents had attended higher ed institutions. Three years after enrolling, about one third of first-gen students had left school, without earning a degree.
First generation of course, refers to those students who are the first in their families to attend college.
Lee Friedman, CEO of College Now Greater Cleveland, joined us to talk more about some of the challenges these students face and what's being done to help.
