Ohio's Prison Chief Looks Back And Forward After More Than 40 Years Inside The System

In just a few months, Gary Mohr wraps up his tenure as director of the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction. During his more than 40-year career, Mohr has seen a massive increase in the population of prisoners, and a new wave of inmates being sentenced to prison time on drug-related offenses. Both trends trouble him. While in town to speak at the City Club of Cleveland, Mohr dropped by the Idea Center. We talked changes in perceptions, the Lucasville riot, his thoughts on the death penalty and much more.
