How a Program Uses Culinary Skills to Reduce Prison Recidivism

For some inmates who will soon be returning home to Cuyahoga County, the key to success after prison could be in the kitchen. Chopping for Change is a program sponsored by Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry that teaches culinary skills to women nearing their release date. The chefs get on the job experience cooking at the Comeback Cafe in Downtown Cleveland.

To learn more about the initiative, ideastream’s Rick Jackson spoke with Andrew Genszler, president and CEO of Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry.
