"Bang" at the Cleveland International Film Festival

Kimisha Thomas is a filmmaker. Her short film titled "Bang" is being shown tonight at the Cleveland International Film Festival. It tells the story of an unemployed mother of two hungry kids, who is pushed over the edge. That's how the film begins, but there's a plot twist behind the story. Thomas is an inmate at the Dayton Correctional Institution. Earlier today on The Sound of Ideas, host Mike McIntyre discussed that film and four others that comprise "Pens to Pictures" a collaborative aimed at empowering incarcerated women, through filmmaking. It is the brainchild of Chinonye Chukwu, Assistant Professor of Motion Pictures at Wright State University in Dayton.
