About Blood: Sickle Cell

One in every 500 African-American babies is born with some form of sickle cell anemia.  When 25-year-old Arthur Brown was diagnosed as an infant with one of the most severe forms of the disease, his mother was told her son would likely not survive to age five.  On this special, learn more about sickle cell anemia - and resource and research disparities - as the Akron resident shares his struggles and triumphs with a disease he considers to be both a curse and a gift. A WVIZ/PBS production.
