A music documentary which tells the story of blind African American gospel singers who strongly influenced the course of American music from sacred to rock and beyond.

Many know that America’s music comes from the rich roots of the blues. But few know how the blind gospel tradition gave American music its ‘soul.’

In this 60-minute special, correspondent David Marash brings the stories of gospel musicians who battled blindness and racial oppression to share their unique voices and unshakable faith.

Hear the work of such singers as Arizona Dranes, the Rev. Gary Davis, Blind Willie Johnson, and Ray Charles have brought the spirit to American song.
