The summer of 2012 brought thousands of heat records, unusually powerful thunderstorms, wildfires and epic droughts. Then came Super Storm Sandy which devastated much of New Jersey and New York. Scientists who publish peer-reviewed articles are increasingly confident that burning fossil fuels increases the probability and severity of storm surges and heavy rains.
