As the world shifts to broadband-enabled commerce, government, education, and healthcare, cities across the country are asking if they have the wired, fiber optic broadband networks they'll need for the future. Cities like Seattle, Chicago, Chattanooga, Lafayette, and Kansas City have answered that question by establishing the next generation of open, scalable, gigabit network infrastructure. These "gigabit cities" are positioned to prosper in the future world economy and will be havens for the businesses, organizations, and citizens that want to thrive in a broadband-rich environment.
