Moderated by Scott Paul, President of Alliance for American Manufacturing. His chapter, "Making Innovative Manufacturing Policy" looks at how to make American manufacturing a priority in the minds of voters and our national leaders through innovative research and effective public advocacy. He calls for manufacturing policy that shifts economic policy back to favoring domestic production to create an America that is built to last.
Dr. Irene Petrick, Penn State University Professor and Managing Director of TrendScape Innovation Group looks at "The Future of Manufacturing." She describes how new technologies and trends are transforming global manufacturing chains and how the trends will benefit local manufacturers.
Carl Pope, former Executive Director of the Sierra Club and is a veteran leader in the environmental movement. His chapter, "Energy Manufacturing: The Linchpin for America's Future," argues for more support for renewable energy technology innovation and explains precisely how this can be done.
Sridhar Kota, Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Michigan and former Assistant Director for Advanced Manufacturing at the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy, has played an instrumental role in redefining the nation’s manufacturing agenda through innovative manufacturing practices and development. His chapter, "The Role of Innovation and Manufacturing R&D," explains the dangers of sending new technology production overseas and describes policy that will foster the production of new technologies in the U.S.
