The country's first same-sex marriage took place in Massachusetts 11 years ago. Now, more than 70 percent of Americans live in states where same-sex couples are allowed to marry.

The Supreme Court announced on January 16 that it will decide whether the Constitution holds a right to same-sex marriage. The questions under consideration in this landmark case include - does the Constitution require states to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples? And do states need to recognize same-sex marriages performed in other states where they are legal?

Could this decision be the end of what many consider to be the modern era's most pressing civil rights issue? Join us for a conversation with Evan Wolfson, Founder and President of Freedom to Marry, and WCPN host Dee Perry on the historical, political and social evolution of marriage equality in the United States.
