Featured on Episode 24 of the 2009-2010 season
In New York and New Jersey last weekend, strong storms knocked down trees, ripped down utility poles, and damaged homes and cars. Several inches of rain fell in some areas, causing flooding. Cold temperatures and rivers swollen with rain and chunks of ice have created driving hazards all over Iowa. The National Weather Service is predicting major flooding over the next few days in the Midwest, including in Hannibal, Missouri where the community put in its flood gates Monday. Residents in North Dakota are preparing for a flood that's expected to hit later this week. People filled sand bags, and convoys of trucks delivered them to the lowest lying areas as the Red River continued to rise. Fargo firefighters are doing their part to make sure they're ready too. They spent their weekend in the pool to practice saving people from flood water.
