Featured on Episode 18 of the 2009-2010 season
One of the items getting the axe in the President's budget was NASA's Constellation program - the next generation space vehicles after the shuttles are retired. The Ares 1-X rocket was supposed to carry astronauts to the Moon, and perhaps someday to Mars. A lot of the preparations were being done at Ohio's NASA Glenn Research Center. The Constellation program was considered too expensive, and the new budget will provide money to help private companies to develop smaller rockets to carry people to the space station. Also included in the budget is money for science, satellites, robotic exploration and education.
