Wild Turkey Makes New Jersey Turnpike Toll Booth Her Home

Posted Wednesday, November 18, 2009

Featured on Episode 10 of the 2009-2010 season

There's a problem on the New Jersey Turnpike at exit 14B. It's a jaywalker who has been seen going in and out of the toll booths -- without paying a dime. Tammy, a wild turkey, has made the turnpike exit her home for the past year. She weaves between the traffic and sits on the hoods of cars, causing a big distraction for drivers. Turnpike authorities are trying to capture Tammy for her own safety and the safety of the drivers, and move her to a wildlife preserve. Note: On Wednesday, 11/18/09, Tammy was captured safely by wildlife officials. She will be given a new home at Popcorn Park Zoo in Forked River, New Jersey.

I thought it was crazy hearing a wild turkey on a turnpike. It was weird too I mean, who’s ever heard of a turkey on a turnpike before?

Dear News depth,
I LOVED the story about the turkey going through the toll booth.  If I were a Turkey, I wouldn’t show my face during Thanksgiving! I would NOT feel comfortable having complete strangers eat me for dinner.  YOU GO TURKEY!!!!
