Dozens of people turned out Saturday for the thirtieth anniversary of the New River Gorge Bridge Day Festival in West Virginia. It's one of the largest base jumping events in the world - and the only day that it's legal there. The word base - b-a-s-e - is an acronym that stands for four kinds of places you can jump from with a special parachute - buildings, antennas, spans - like a bridge, and earth - like a cliff. The New River Gorge Bridge is the longest single steel arch bridge in the western hemisphere - and 876 feet high. Kids - don't try this at home!!
