Akron Public School students learn the ins and outs of home construction on the job. It's a "hands-on" program called "Education in Action" - a partnership with the city of Akron, the Homebuilders Association and the Urban Neighborhood Development Corporation. Thirty kids in the district's construction technology program are learning from skilled home builders on site. The students work on the outside, from framing to shingles, and the inside, from cabinets to wiring to painting. Students are wrapping up the program's sixteenth home since 1997.
