Oberlin College has been honored by the National Wildlife Federation as a winner in their contest called "Chill Out: Campus Solutions to Global Warming." For Oberlin's entry, called “the Light Bulb Brigade,” volunteers exchanged nearly ten thousand compact fluorescent light bulbs - or CJLs - for older bulbs. Besides trading bulbs with students, businesses, and churches, they also gave the more expensive bulbs to many lower income community members. The CFLs will save local citizens thousands of dollars on their utility bills.
