After September 11th, 2001, many Muslims felt the War on Terror was really the United States waging war on their religion. But when he traveled to the Muslim nation of Turkey this week, President Obama told Muslims that America is their friend. But the outreach also has practical goals. Turkey has the second largest army in NATO, so its support is crucial in Afghanistan. And since Turkey borders Iraq to the north, its cooperation with moving U.S. military personnel and equipment out of Iraq could be pivotal too. After Turkey, the President made a surprise to Iraq, where he visited troops stationed in the capital city of Baghdad.
