The first public school in the country to operate inside a corporation held a ribbon-cutting last Friday, and students celebrated the occasion with science demonstrations. Eighty or so ninth graders make up the first class of students at the Cleveland Metropolitan School District's "STEM" school - named for its curriculum in science, technology, engineering and math. Students in this new school actually studied at the Great Lakes Science Center, until a renovated office building at General Electric's Nela Park campus in East Cleveland opened earlier this month. The students will work with scientists and engineers as part of their regular school day.
