This is the story of a man determined to save a deer, despite the doe's best efforts. A doe is trapped in the middle of Lake Zumbro, unable to grip the slippery ice. With the wind chill of 30 below zero, it could be a death sentence, a sentence Steve Breland won’t see carried out. He drags the doe to the snow near the edge of the lake, but she still can’t stand up. He drags her further to the lake edge, where she panics and runs back on the ice. Finally, Steve steers the deer off the ice, where she takes a rest, and is on her way.
