Cleveland Indians pitcher Cliff Lee was named the winner of this year's American League Cy Young award - an honor given to the best pitcher in each of the leagues. Lee won the award in a landslide of votes after a great season in which he won twenty two games. The award is named after Denton True Young, an Ohio farm boy who became the best pitcher in baseball. Born in Gilmore, Ohio in 1867, he was given the nickname Cyclone, shortened to Cy, because of the speed of his fastball.
