History was made on Tuesday when Democrat Barack Obama won the Presidential election, making him the first African American to ever assume the highest office in the land. For a long time it looked like the race to the White House was going to be close, but when the economy started tanking, Obama took a lead and never looked back. He decisively defeated John McCain with 349 Electoral College votes to 162, as of November 6, 2008. Several states have not yet been officially decided. Sandra Endo gives us an overview of the national election results.
