After two years of construction, the city of Cleveland has a shiny new main street. The Euclid Corridor Project has transformed Euclid Avenue with seven miles of rebuilt road. But the centerpiece of the project is the new Health Line, a fleet of new rapid transit vehicles. These RTVs are built like train cars but ride on rubber wheels. They use a hybrid electric system which will save fuel and make for a quiet ride. The vehicles ride in special lanes in the middle of the road, and GPS technology will control traffic lights, getting travelers to their destination in minutes. Planners hope the $200 million project will be the engine that drives Cleveland's future.
