Like Starbucks, many businesses in Ohio are in trouble, and the possibility of a recession is making news in Ohio. With the local economy slumping, the state of Ohio is expecting a budget shortfall of at least $733 million this year. Governor Ted Strickland announced that job cuts in state government would have to be made. The governor said he knows that the cuts will be disruptive, frightening and painful for state employees in Ohio. Between 1500 and 2700 jobs could be cut. Balancing the budget is a big part of the governor’s job.
