This month, the Lego Company is celebrating 50 years in the toy business. It all started with wooden toys at a factory in Denmark. Not with the simple plastic building blocks - those were an idea taken from a competitor in 1949. But it was the Lego version that took off. As for the name? It’s a combination of the Danish words for "play well."
