The Hawaiian Islands were formed from undersea volcanoes that erupted thousands of years ago. On the big island of Hawaii, a volcano called Kilauea has actually been active for a quarter of a century. This January marks twenty-five years of oozing lava. It is one of the largest active craters on the earth. Recently it seemed to be approaching a subdivision where two people still lived. However, the flow has seemed to move away from the neighborhood.
