Students at the Illinois Institute of Technology used pumpkins in a fun science and math lesson. The nineteen different teams were each given 300 dollars to build their contraptions. No electricity or explosives allowed ... Just ingenuity ... And lots of work. We also take a look at the pumpkin cannons used at the “Punkin Chunkin” in Delaware last weekend. The giant cannons don’t use explosives, just compressed air, to blast 8 to 10 pound pumpkins thousands of feet across an empty field. The world record for this event is 4,434 feet. The record for this past weekend’s event was about 200 feet shorter than that.
