Featured on Episode 6 of the 2007-2008 season
Nearly 2,000 baby turtles washed ashore in Volusia County, Florida. The Marine Science Center has tried to rehabilitate the baby green, loggerhead and kemp’s ridley turtles that washed ashore in the seaweed they live in during rough waves caused by an off-shore storm. 1500 of the tiny turtles were released back into the ocean last week, but about 1200 of them washed back to shore again days later. Biologists, beach patrols and visitors are rescuing the turtles and starting the rehabilitation cycle over again. The turtles will be released again when the weather breaks.
