Making sure to eat the right things at the right time is very important for people with diabetes. All three Hakel family children have type-one diabetes, and if they don't have their blood sugar monitored, they can go into life-threatening comas. Meadow is their new service dog, trained to smell chemical changes in the body and alert someone when the levels are low. Meadow has already proved herself worthy, as she paced frantically until Mom tested one of the Hakel children's levels, which – you guessed it – were low.
